Kevin Parson is a young seminary student. On his way home from a meeting with a priest, he receives a phone call from a man who calls himself Slater, who says that unless Kevin confesses his sin in three minute, his car will be blown sky high. This leads to many more phone calls, bringing in the FBI and CBI (California Bureau of Investigation). Agent Jennifer Peirce (FBI) and Samantha Sheer (CBI, also Kevin's childhood girlfriend) are put on the case.
